- Fall Competition 2013 - September 21 & 22, 2013 (New)
With summer and our Weekend of Photography right around the corner, what would come to mind but fall and our SWMCCC Fall Competition! We thought we might put out an early heads-up because this fall we have something special to consider! In addition to the regular competition we find ourselves in the midst of the Grand Rapids 2013 ArtPrize. For that reason, the Grand Rapids Camera Club has volunteered to host this year’s SWMCCC Fall Competition. For SWMCCC photographers not familiar with ArtPrize, a little research uncovers one of the nation’s hottest new art venues. The last 5 years have generated a buzz resonating internationally and making the national news on several occasions. Over $500,000 in prize money was awarded in 2012 in categories judged both publically and professionally.
This year we will add a second day to our SWMCCC Fall Competition allowing members either independently or in an organized group to tour a portion of the 1,500+ 2013 ArtPrize entries (a downtown Grand Rapids night shoot is also in the works). Some pieces are small and spread out while others are enormous and concentrated in the central downtown area. A good sampling can be viewed during the day we have chosen for touring. The SWMCCC Fall Competition is tentatively planned for Saturday, Sept. 21 with the ArtPrize tour on Sunday, Sept. 22. With ArtPrize officially running from Wed, Sept 18 through Sun, Oct 6, there is lots of time for our competition participants to also view as much of ArtPrize as desired outside the organized SWMCCC event. What an opportunity to shoot some great ArtPrize images, Grand Rapids at night and enjoy the competitive spirit of our SWMCCC Fall Competition!

SWMCCC Competition Chairman - Spring Competition 2013 Results
Many thanks to the Tulip City Camera Club for hosting our Spring Competition and to all those who participated. We had 10 SWMCCC clubs submit 329 images from 44 individual members! The Winners Galleries are up and you can view the Winners List. The competition was a good time for all.
