Flower Presentation

Michael Kobe
The presentation will focus on appropriate equipment for taking photographs of flowers, techniques employed in close-up photography, and post image capture editing.  These three components will dramatically help anyone interested in mastering close-up photography of wildflowers and hybrid flowers.
Participants will learn appropriate camera settings such as depth-of-field, ISO, shutter speed, and imaging techniques such as HDR and picture styles.  Ways to stabilize flowers will be explored and demonstrated with items like such as Plamps.  Methods of controlling and modifying the background will also be explained.  Appropriate lighting to enhance a flower will be detailed by using supplemental light sources, backlighting, reflectors, and diffusers.  After the presentation, participants may opt to bring their cameras and tripods to a 60-minute workshop to practice the skills in flower photography that were shown at the presentation.  All ability levels will be addressed and equipment needs can vary from a pocket point-and-shoot camera to a digital single lens reflex camera.
